Art Licensing

As you know, Copyright is the set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. These rights can be licensed or transferred.

Art Licensing is the process of leasing the right to use a legally protected work of art, by means of a contractual agreement, for a specific product for an agreed-upon fee or royalty.

Usually licenses are valid for a particular length of time and a specified territory, for example, a license with a territory limited to North America
(United States/Canada).

This agreement commonly has several other component parts beyond the grant itself, including a term, industry sector, product line, renewal provision and other limitations deemed vital to the licensor.
